Greetings,
Many of you who receive this newsletter are
aware of our all-too-brief appearance at the
D.C. Supershow earlier in the month...so
please just skip the next several
paragraphs. As I posted on other forums:
D. C. Supershow...but not for me!
Teresa and I arrived Thursday, early
afternoon, for four fun-filled days at the
D.C. Pen Show! As I walked into the lobby, my
'good' knee (the left one), which had been
giving me problems for about 10 days, seized
up with a rather searing pain. So, it was up
to the room -- very slowly -- for me. I had a
date with a bag of ice.
Teresa went down to the show and set up for
an hour or so with her pen rolls and pen
pouches. She sold a bunch of those, which at
least paid for one night at the hotel, and we
retired for the night. We got up early on
Friday, attempting to go down to the show to
set up, and even with two canes I couldn't
make it as far as the lobby.
To make a long story short, I didn't want to
risk hurting my 'bad' right knee (this is the
leg that's 4/1-2" shorter due to an auto
accident as a child), as I would need it to
drive back to Allentown (Teresa doesn't
drive). Consequently, even with all the
pre-show investment, preparation and millions
to be made , I
had to make the difficult
decision of returning home, with nary a pen
or bottle of ink displayed for sale.
I'm not saying the knee injury wasn't
painful, but the real pain was from
all the wasted preparation for
the show!
Can I interest anyone in some D.C.
Supershow Blue or Green ink?

Penknife rolls/pouches from Lai Yee

After making pen rolls and pouches for a
number of years, one of Lai Yee's customers
told her that they also worked very well for
transporting penknives -- and a new industry
was born.
The basic 4-slot version is available in two
sizes...for those penknives that are
approximately 3-1/2" in length when closed --
with a slot 1-1/2" in width -- and for those
that are 4-1/2" in length and a slot 1-3/4"
in width. The price for the smaller is $15.00
and $18.00 for the larger.

Leonardo Black Lacquer

This is another full-sized pen, measuring
5-1/2" capped and 6" posted. It's all-metal
construction is surprisingly light.
Consequently, this is a pen that can serve
for extended writing sections without tiring
out the writer.
Removing the slip cap -- which snaps back
into place -- reveals a lovely, two-toned
steel nib that reprises the da Vinci
portrait, as well as being engraved with
'Leonardo'. I judge these nibs to be
light-medium by western standards (meaning,
between a typical fine and a medium).
Here's a company that almost guarantees that
you'll add several I.Q. points just from
writing with their pens. I mean, with da
Vinci staring at you from both the clip and
the nib, who wouldn't be inspired?

time you read this...which is why it pays to sign up for the

A video twofer this time...
An interesting, close-up side view of a Pilot
nib, flexing in action! Who said we didn't
have an exciting hobby!
A fantastic miniature railroad...and much
more! Growing up, my next-door neighbor had a
similar set-up (a bit smaller). I
spent many wonderful hours there as a child.
