His Nibs.com update --
Pen Rolls by Lai Yee
September 14th, 2007

I'm very happy to announce that Lai Yee
(a/k/a Mrs. Nibs and Teresa Haase), has
turned her powers as a seamstress to the
creation of a new line of inexpensive pen
wraps or pen rolls. She originally created
them for easy and safe transport of pens when
we set-up at pen shows, but has decided to
make them available to everyone.

As you'll see on the website, there are
several varieties, differing in number of
pen slots, the material used, and price
range. As she often purchases patterns that
strike her eye -- but may be quite limited in
availability -- please check back often for
new ones.

Rob Astyk of the terrific website The Lion &
Pen http://www.lionandpen.com/ has created an online petition to the
U. S. Postal Service, suggesting that a
series of stamps be created to commemorate
the fountain pen. Considering that hundreds
of millions or billions of pieces of mail
where addressed with our favorite writing
instrument over the past century, it seems
like a natural. Please add your name to the
petition, here http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/Fountain-Pen-Stamps
or on the homepage of His Nibs. Don't be
bashful about sharing it with family and
friends. The initial goal is 1000
petitioners, but I think we can do better
than that with a concerted effort!

never heard it or seen it.

Pen Rolls by Lai Yee

Made with six, eight, or ten pen slots, the
pen roll
is a great way to protect your pens from
scratches while they're jostled around during
travel. Each slot is stitched so that barrels
never make contact, and are large enough to
easily fit oversized pens.

Ranging in price from $5.00 for a simple
6-slot, polyester version, up to $25.00 for
8-slot poly/wool blend with fabric-backing,
these inexpensive pen rolls will transport
your collection in style. There's even one
that can be personalized with your -- or a
gift recipient's -- name.

Take a look at all of the styles currently in
stock by clicking the link below...and
remember to check back frequently, as new
patterns are offered.

Last week I was invited to attend the
Steinway premiere of their 'Black Tie' tuxedo
line at Steinway Hall in Manhattan, across
from Carnegie Hall (I know, I know, "How do
you get to Carnegie Hall...practice!").

The piano duo of 'Anderson and Roe' performed
for us. I especially appreciated this
particular piece (which they closed with), as
it's what I *tried* to perform at my
grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary many
years ago! Who knew I needed a second pair of
hands?

See what these kids can do, in the September
11th blog entry.
