His Nibs.com update --
New from Delta
January 25th, 2007

This week brings a couple of new entries from
Delta -- ready to order now -- as well as a
preview of the second Monteverde MEGA limited
edition, which won't be available for a month
or so.

I don't regularly stock Delta's extensive
line, but rather special order them for my
customers. Doing this allows me to offer them
at a further discount, as I don't need to
hold them in stock, and also allows me to
order the specific nib that a customer requests.

That same policy is in effect for these new
pens, but I was so excited about them that I
wanted to introduce them immediately (I will
take orders through this weekend, and will
place my order on Monday).

First is a spectacular addition to Delta's
flagship Dolcevita line -- a desk pen! This
is available as a single fountain pen, a
single ballpoint pen or a two pen
combination. The fountain pen is available
with an F, M or B nib for immediate shipment
to me, or with one of Delta's extensive group
of specialty nibs (requires ordering from
Italy, which takes about 1 month).

The second new offering from Delta is the new
WE (pronounced 'way') pen, available as a
fountain pen, rollerball or ballpoint, in
either all-black or the black and red
combination. In each case the clip contains a
'pepperoncino', or red pepper, which is a
traditional Italian (and coincidentally
American southwest) symbol of good fortune --
designed to ward off evil!

Keeping with a red and black theme is
Monteverde's second limited edition MEGA
Ink*Ball. This won't be available until the
end of February or so...but I thought you'd
like a first look.

Delta Dolcevita desk set

From the Delta sales copy: Delta
introduced a bold new look for luxury
writing instruments in 1998. It was named,
?Dolcevita? for the Italian ?sweet life? that
everyone dreams about. They hand-made special
Terracotta Orange and Black resins and
accented the instruments with hand-cast
sterling silver. The result was stunning to
look at and raised the bar for luxury writing
instruments forever!

Delta presents the Dolcevita Desk Set. It is
dynamic in appearance, blending a new
streamlined shape with classic design cues
borrowed from an ancient Pompeian motif.

The Delta Dolcevita Desk Set is high art for
the serious writer, perfectly balanced for
all the senses. It promises a beautiful
writing experience and is amazingly
comfortable to hold. It fills with a platinum
plated lateral lever and delivers a high
performance writing experience.

Delta WE

From the Delta sales copy: The Delta
WE (pronounced 'way') offers the
promise of good fortune and the hope of
dreams fulfilled in a spectacular collection
of writing instruments. In Delta's home in
Naples, Italy, they use the colloquial term
'We' when they are pleasantly surprised by
something that impresses them. Literally,
'We' means "What's that?".

Inside the clip of every version of this new,
hand-made collection, Delta blesses their
customers with a "pepperoncino" , (red
pepper), which is a traditional symbol of
good fortune and is believed to ward off
evil. Amazingly, the red pepper symbolizes
exactly the same thing to the people of the
American Southwest as well as many other
cultures worldwide.

Delta hand-crafts each lucky pepper charm so
that it completely disappears inside the We
clip and is always available whenever and
wherever good fortune is needed.

Several lucky, Delta We versions are
available. All this luck is built into every
Delta We writing instrument, "what else"
would you expect?

Monteverde MEGA Ink*Ball LE 2

Continuing the phenomenal success of the MEGA
Ink*Ball and first limited edition in yellow
and black, Monteverde will be introducing a
second limited edition (also limited to 1999
pieces) towards the end of February.

This will be the same size as the burgundy
and original limited edition pens. It will
enable you to have an all-red or red and
black pen (or if you mix and match with the
first LE, even an all-black pen -- with
smaller dimensions than the original,
oversized black). If you'd
like to get on the waiting list now, feel
free to email us.

On the blog...Psychologist Evaluates 'Jungle Woman'

"A Spanish psychologist met Tuesday with
Cambodia's "jungle woman," hoping to unravel
some of the mystery surrounding the woman who
emerged from the forest, naked and unable to
speak, after what may have been nearly two
decades in the wild.

Hector Rifa, a doctor of psychology from
Spain's University of Oviedo, said his
priority was to ensure the woman was
receiving proper treatment for whatever
traumatic experience she has undergone.

But it was possible he may find clues to the
woman's true identity - whether she is indeed
a girl who disappeared in 1988 while tending
water buffalo, as claimed by a family in
northeastern Cambodia who has taken her in as
their long-lost daughter."
