His Nibs.com update -- Charisma returns

His Nibs.com update --
Charisma returns
January 13th, 2007

As Monteverde continues to retire older models to
make room for new ones (I have the very
last Cambria in stock as I write
this), I grabbed some of the last
of the Charisma pens. I mentioned the fountain pen a
number of weeks ago, as being the design that
originally helped
convince me to start carrying the Monteverde line.

I've now once again stocked the 'convertible' version
of the Charisma (ballpoint, rollerball and gel
refills included), which has been my personal choice
of non-fountain pen for many years. It's just a
great design.

I've also re-stocked on the Monteverde Invincia, the
Uranus Multifunction pen (which sold out within two
days after the last update), the Monteverde Mauna
Kea and once again have all three versions of the
Monteverde Mega in stock.

Cautious good news on the ever-popular Pilot 78G
pens. The 'F' and 'M' nibbed ones should be on their
way to me this week (I will of course notify
everyone on the waiting list when they arrive). The
'B' nib stub/italics are 95% sure of being
re-stocked, but it will still be a couple of weeks
until that's definite.

Monteverde Charisma

It's been several years since I've carried the
Charisma convertible pens for sale, as I've rotated
through different models -- as sales dictated.
There's always been a Charisma convertible close to
hand though. This is just about the most comfortable
pen I've ever used, and has always been my #1 choice
when a fountain pen is not available (and the
Charisma fountain pen is what drew me to
Monteverde's great design sense to begin with).

I originally carried all nine different finishes,
but as the line is being phased out, only four still
remain. Do yourself a favor and add one of these
terrific pens to your collection before they're gone
forever.

As the original ad copy said:

The 8 faceted CHARISMA Collection offers a
combination of aged Celluloid with Mirror Chrome
accents, both crafted with the rarest of materials
usually reserved for much higher-priced writing
instruments.

The sleek shape of CHARISMA results in a pen that is
ergonomically balanced and a joy to use. CHARISMA
also features CONVERTIBLE 3 convenience by allowing
the use of a SCHMIDT capless rollerball,
PARKER-style ballpen, or the new PARKER gel refill
now available from MONTEVERDE. All CHARISMA pens in
the collection advance their point with a precision
twist-action mechanism on top of the pen. Each pen
comes gift boxed with all three refills included, in
black.

Monteverde Invincia

The early flagship of the Monteverde line, the
Tartania is likewise being retired after having
reigned for many years. What a classic fountain pen
profile, in a terrific range of finishes.

There are four finishes that contrast and compliment
each other perfectly: Rose Gold/Grey Carbon Fiber;
the spectacular Mirror Chrome/Tartania Carbon Fiber
(TARTANIA Carbon fiber is a technological
breakthrough that combines many colors on many
levels and is the one shown here); the sophisticated
Black Tie Carbon Fiber, and the newest, Black &
White, which departs from its brethren with a
gorgeous pearl-like resin body. The pen measures
5-3/8" capped and 5-3/4" posted. INVINCIA fountain
pens come with an ink converter for bottled ink and
a black ink cartridge. Available with a medium nib.

'2018' Multifunction pen

Unscrewing the cap above the clip reveals a
super-smooth rollerball, fed by liquid ink. The
metal tip allows for the most demanding writing,
from the Sunday crossword puzzle to multipart forms.
But, unlike the pasty 'ink' used in a conventional
ballpoint, this liquid-ink rollerball provides for a
smooth, skip-free writing experience, allowing for a
quick note -- or an extended writing session.

Pulling off the cap from the other end of the pen
reveals the real surprise however, a self-contained,
flexible calligraphy 'brush', fed from the same ink
source as the rollerball! Made of a soft,
sponge-like material, the faux-brush allows for the
writing of traditional Chinese characters (or
Japanese 'kanji'), with a fidelity as close to using
a real calligraphy brush and ink stone as I've seen.

Monteverde Mauna Kea

No. 2 of the series...The beauty, color and majesty
of the World's most immortal mountains are sculpted
by Monteverde designers into treasured writing
instruments. The Monteverde Mauna Kea is
Monteverde's Second Edition in the monumental
Mountains of the World collection.

All Monteverde Mauna Kea Mountains are hand-crafted
from the finest European-grade acrylic resins. Each
captures the subtle hues of Hawaii's breathtakingly
beautiful volcano. From sea floor to summit, Mauna
Kea measures 5.6 miles in height, standing as the
tallest peak in Hawaii. Its last eruption occurred
over 3500 years ago.

The Mauna Kea cap is created from a single piece of
the finest European-grade acrylic resin. The result
is a design that runs naturally uninterrupted. Every
Mauna Kea writing instrument is presented in an
elegant, wood-trimmed case with a magnetic closure.

Monteverde MEGA Ink*Ball series

Regular readers of this email don't need to read
more about the success of the Mega over the past 6
months. This is just a note to say that all three
versions are once again in stock.

On the blog....All Is Not So Bad in the State of Denmark

"Sweden has more blond beauties per capita, Italy
and France have far better cuisine, and most of the
free world can boast of better weather. But over the
past 30 years, the citizens of Denmark have scored
higher than any other Western country on measures of
life satisfaction, and scientists think they know why."
