His Nibs.com Update --
Pilot 78G
November 21st, 2006

Just a very brief update this time, as I expect to
send out another this coming weekend with
information about when we can all expect the arrival
of the MEGA limited edition http://www.hisnibs.com/mega_le.htm.
Monteverde promises to update me about
their shipping schedule by Friday.

One new pen this week is the Pilot 78G from Japan.
It's a classy little writer that I received a small
quantity of from one of my sources in China.

Also in the next update this weekend, look for some
neat pen cups and ballpoint pens. I don't usually
feature ballpoints, but these are quite intriguing
and are perfect as stocking stuffers (yes, that time
of year is again fast approaching). I'm working on
photographs and descriptions now, so stay tuned.

I wish everyone a most joyous Thanksgiving.

Pilot 78G

One of my suppliers in China came across these
lovely, mid-sized fountain pens from Pilot of Japan.
He believes that the 78G is a discontinued model,
which would make these NOS (new, old stock). In any
case, he sent me a sample of one a couple of months
ago, and I've been putting it through its paces ever
since, and I'm very happy with the results and my
experience using the pen.

Monteverde MEGA Ink*Ball LE

Fast on the heels of the success of the burgundy and
black versions of the MEGA, comes the new LE
(limited edition) version from Monteverde. I expect
to have these in stock near the end of the month,
and am taking pre-orders for them now. Monteverde
assures me that there won't be the same
re-stocking delays as happened after the New York
Times article appeared about the regular-production
models, as only 1999 of these are being produced
(the year that Monteverde was founded). I can only
hope that it's true!

You can puzzle out what's included with this set
from the photo provided here, or get the full
description, price and more photos by following the
