His Nibs.com update -- Release the Hounds!
His Nibs.com Update --
Release the Hounds!
October 3rd, 2006

Please note...due to several commitments this
week,
I may not be able to perform my usual 24-hour
turnaround for orders. Please be patient if it takes
an extra day to ship this week and extra time to respond to you.
There's a new
pen to join Acura's Dragon, Snake and
Purple Grapes overlay models -- the Year of the
Dog!
Additionally, I've been able to source a previous
Acura favorite which we carried several years
ago...the fun, little Switch Cap pen --
and at a reduced price (how often does
that happen?).
Further along the re-stocking front, the Hero
Accountant pens are back! These are the pens with
the XXXF nibs (although I was surprised with
some XF ones as well).
All the news that's fit to print....for those
of you clambering to read more about His Nibs.com
(are you listening Mom?), we link to an article that
appeared last week in an Eastern Pennsylvania
business journal.
All the news that's fit to print 2....we were
also contacted by the New York Times about the
Monteverde MEGA Ink*Ball pens for a piece appearing
this Sunday. Details below.

* Hero 237-1 Accountant pens

Acura Year of the Dog

Like the Dragon, Serpent and Purple Grapes models,
the Year of the Dog pen has an intricately detailed
overlay in pewter, fashioned atop its black lacquer
barrel. Available in both a fountain pen and
rollerball version, these pens are slightly smaller
than their predecessors, but are full-sized nonetheless.
The pens measure 5-3/8" capped, and 4-1/2" for the
rollerball, 4-3/4" for the fountain pen with cap
removed. Like the other Acura overlay pens, the cap
is *not* designed to post. The circumference is also
a bit slimmer than the other overlays. All-in-all, a
very comfortable pen for any sized hand.

Acura SwitchCap

When capped, these diminutive pens only measure
about 4", enabling them to fit anywhere. But,
there's a twist...literally. When you unscrew the
cap, threads magically appear at the end of the
barrel, ready to have the cap posted and extending
the length of the pen to a very comfortable 5-1/4".
These unique pens blend gorgeous Italian resin --
with various color swirls and patterns that prevent
any two pens from appearing the same -- with chromed
brass in a matte finish for the barrel of the pen.
The gold trim rings add the perfect design accent.
Although the pens take an international-style ink
cartridge only...I am receiving a new
mini-converter this week, that may very well fit
this pen...as well as the Monteverde Diva,
Monteverde Sonata and Monteverde Charisma. Check
the homepage during the course of the week for an
announcement.

Hero 237-1 Accountant pens

I'm happy to announce the return of these terrific
little pens. There was a long waiting list for
these, and those who have responded to my emails
over the weekend had their pens ship out on Monday.
It was not until I'd shipped quite a few of them
however, that I noticed I was sent a number of them
with XF nibs, not the XXF nibs that
comprised my first order. Consequently, some of you
on the waiting list may have gotten one or more of
the XF pens by mistake.
I subsequently -- but too late -- learned that they
are easy to spot! The pens with the expected XXF
nibs have a black barrel bottom (as show in this
photo). The surprise XF pens have solid-color barrels.
So, if you receive the mistakenly-sent solid-color
pen(s) and don't wish to keep them, please drop me a
line at orders@hisnibs.com. Sorry for the oversight!

I was also interviewed in the past week by Anne
Eisenberg of the New York Times, for an article on
the Monteverde Mega Ink*Ball pen, which we helped
introduce this summer http://www.hisnibs.com/mega.htm.
The article will appear in this Sunday's Times --
October 8th -- in Ms. Eisenberg's
Novelties column in the Business section.
If you don't get the paper, the article can be
accessed at the Times' website http://www.nytimes.com/. Online
registration
is required, but it's free. Just search on 'novelties'.
