His Nibs.com Update --
Hero 329, 330 & Monteverde Mega
June 17th, 2006
This past week was devoted to filling pre-orders, as
the Monteverde Mega pens finally arrived, as well as
more Hero 329s and 330s.
Monteverde has had a terrible time in filling
backorders for all of the Mega orders submitted by
retailers. I was fortunate to get all of my 3rd order to
cover everyone on my waiting list. Actually, as
several people reneged on their pre-orders -- after
they arrived -- I have a good stock of the burgundy
at the moment, as well as one or two of the black
still in stock.
All three colors of the Hero 329 are back-in-stock
this week, as well as the 330 -- which hadn't been
available for several months.
The Ginkoshen 'Jungle Stripes' which I introduced in
the last update have been a great hit, and look to
become a new favorite of those who like hooded nibs.
As the weather has turned warmer, I've found myself
gravitating to bright-colored pens in my own
collection. My Monteverde Riviera fountain pen has
been a perfect pocket companion this week and I
invite you to take a look again at a cheerful addition
to the Monteverde line.

Monteverde Mega back-in-stock

To say that the Monteverde Mega Ink*Ball has been
a hit...would be a bit of an understatement. My first
two orders sold out within a day or so, spawning a
large waiting list. That waiting list has been
addressed this week and we have a few pens left in
stock.
If you've been wanting to get one, now might be the
time, as Monteverde is *again* out of stock, and it's
unknown when their next shipment will arrive.

Hero 329 and 330 models

The two models that launched His Nibs.com almost
nine years ago are still going as strong as ever. Now
the originals are back-in-stock. The best value in
Pendom!

Ginkoshen Jungle Stripes

This pen has proven to be as popular as I
anticipated. Couple the great exterior design of the
Parker Sonnet on the outside, with a hooded nib a la
the Parker 51 on the inside -- and then add a terrific
and
colorful finish at a super affordable price....well,
what's not to like?
I'm almost out of my first batch of these pens, and
unfortunately it looks like my second order of only
33 -- shipping soon -- may be the last! My buyer in
China hasn't been able to locate any more.

Monteverde Riviera

Summer isn't officially here yet, but it sure feels like
it in my part of the country. It always feels like
Monteverde does summer well, with its great
use of vibrant colors in pen series like the Sonata (http://www.hisnibs.com/sonata.htm [4]), the Oceana (http://www.hisnibs.com/oceana.htm [5]) and the Diva (http://www.hisnibs.com/diva.htm [6]).
For me this week its been a Riviera in Gala Orange
that's taken pride-of-place in my shirt pocket. I can't
tell you how many "Wow, what a great looking pen"
and "I love those colors!" comments I hear as I use it
on my daily rounds, from the local coffee shop to the
Post Office to the supermarket or business meeting.
The Rivieras just seem to bring a smile to people's
faces -- including my own.

An innovative new approach to conveying information
is on display at the Goddard Space Flight Center, in
Greenbelt, Maryland. I have to
emphasize the location for my mother's benefit...as
my grandfather was the second mayor of Greenbelt
