His Nibs.com Update --
Longda #104 price reduction
January 15, 2006

We won't be attending the Philadelphia Pen Show
this coming weekend, but for those of you who have
a chance to go, it's well worth it. There might not
even be a blizzard this year! You can find out more
here (http://www.philadelphiapenshow.com/ [1]).
I've decided to lower the price of the new Longda
#104 -- introduced last week -- to $15.00 (down
from $18.00) It's a neat 'homage' to Parker, with its
arrow clip and semi-hooded nib.
These past couple of weeks I've shared some of the
recent cartoons published by my brother Bruce, who
works for a paper in Seattle. As many of you know,
they've been inundated with almost non-stop rain for
nearly a month, and his latest cartoon reflects that.
Bruce can be reached via email at
brucepritcharddesign@comcast.net [2] should you wish
any caricatures or other artwork done, and his
website -- needing an update -- can be found
here (http://hometown.aol.com/pritcharddesign/ [3]).
...and on the blog: This is Universal Letter Writing
week, and we have a link to an interesting article on
the subject.

Longda #104

Here we have a sharp-looking, mid-sized pen -- 5-
1/4" capped and 6" with the cap posted -- that
delivers good 'bang for the buck'. Although the cap
and barrel are of primarily brass construction, it's a
light-weight pen that any hand should find
comfortable. Its arrow clip -- sans the feathers --
may remind you of a certain other pen company. I
like to think of it as an homage
.
The slip cap posts securely with a click on both ends
of the pen, and uncapping reveals a good-sized
plastic gripping section with incised ribbing for a
secure hold while writing. The section continues into
a semi-hooded configuration, almost identical to the
Ouguwen -- but without the scary eyes! Unlike that
pen, which comes with an x-fine nib, this model has
a nib that I'd describe as a western fine. At this price
point, it is of course a steel nib.

"BTW, LOL, ROFL, IMISU2 aren't acronyms for civil
libertarian groups, nor are they examples of car tag
numbers.
They're typical of the language people use in the
digital information age.
For those who aren't savvy in digital-speak, they
mean "by the way," "laughing out loud," "rolling on
the floor laughing" and "I miss you, too."
The art of composing a thoughtful missive to send
via the postal service has been all but lost in this age
of instant messaging, coast-to-coast walkie-talkie
phones and e-mail.
This is Universal Letter Writing Week, which Dr.
Stanley J. Drake, founder of the International Society
of Friendship and Goodwill, is credited for instituting
as a way of reconnecting and rediscovering the joy
of penning missives to loved ones."
