His Nibs.com Update --
Jinhao #1900
December 22, 2005

Now that the Speeno rush is over -- at least until
restocking at the end of January -- we can once
again get back to introducing new brands and models
from China.

This week's offering is the Jinhao model #1900, a
slim -- but full-sized -- 'looker' that posed some
lighting challenges when being photographed.

...and on the blog...everything you always wanted to
know about sneezing, but were afraid to ask.

Jinhao #1900

This is a slim, full-sized (5-1/2" capped, 6-1/4"
posted) pen that has a lot of nice features going for
it. It's beautiful lacquer-over-brass construction has
a subtle beauty that my photographic skills are just
not up to capturing. This is primarily because of the
deep, dark lacquer, which is ribboned by tendrils of
red that only really become visible in direct light. As
the pen almost appears black from a distance, the
shimmering red highlights can catch you by surprise
when they are first revealed.

Rather, what may first attract your attention to the
pen is its cap top, which houses a small, blue jewel (I
can only assume that it's a little sapphire) --
centered in a raised, hand-painted design. Not
gaudy, just interesting enough to look good peeking
out of a shirt pocket. Again, like the barrel finish, it
almost seems to wait until hit by a beam of light to
spring to life.

On the blog...What your sneeze says about you

"Sooner or later you're going to sneeze.

And what with allergies, cold and flu season and
furnaces blasting dust through your house like a leaf
blower, we're betting on sooner. Ah, well. Or should
we say 'Achoo'?

But before you reach for a tissue again, ask yourself
how much you really know about the noble sneeze?
You might know, for instance, that when you do
sneeze you spew 100,000 bacteria through the air at
better than 100 mph. But did you know that you're
also revealing aspects of your personality?

So says Patti Wood, spokeswoman of Benadryl, the
creator of "The Achoo IQ Quiz."

Wood, who is also a body language expert, combined
a sneezing survey of 547 people with three months
of "observational" analysis. Then she correlated
people's sneezing styles and behaviors with a "well-
researched" personality test."
