His Nibs.com update -- Speenos & Stocking Stuffers

His Nibs.com Update -- Stocking stuffers
Speenos in stock!
December 8, 2005

The little Speeno pens have arrived back-in-stock
since our last email update -- which is why this
update has been delayed, as we've sent out more
than 150 of them over the past several days -- and
everyone who's
received them from the waiting list seems very
pleased (you'll see links to a couple of reviews on the
Speeno webpage). We still have perhaps 100 or so of
them in stock, but they're again going very
fast, and this may be the last shipment!

The Speeno is only one of the items listed on
The Palace (http://www.hisnibs.com/the_palace.htm)
as a perfect stocking stuffer this year. The latest
addition includes a pair of very cute, high quality
pen knives from Sanrenmu in Shanghai.
According to my source in China, this is what
everyone's carrying there, and they easily slip on the
same keychain as the Speeno.

Also listed in the Palace are the very last of the
Squiggler doll pens. I've sold these for 7 or 8 years,
and they're always a great hit at pen shows, but
unfortunately the company that manufactured them
is no longer in business. What remains is on sale for
$5.00 each (they originally retailed for $9.95)

There are a number of other items that might strike
your fancy -- most in quite limited supply -- including
the YAFA classic car/pen sets, the Monteverde DIVA
lipstick pens, etc. I'll probably add additional items
over the next week or so, as things sell out, so
please check back from time-to-time.

On the blog, we have a contest to revive the lost art
of writing love letters, as well as the problems
inherent in moving giant earthworms!

The Speenos are here, the Speenos are here!

The good news is that the Speeno re-stocking
shipment arrived since my last update, and the
majority of the 175 or so back-ordered pens have
gone out to the customers on the waiting list (at
least those that I've heard back from).

The bad news is that my buyer in China has informed
me that they are no longer being produced (why
does that always happen with the most popular
items?) and that we may be able to get one
more shipment of them before they're all gone!

Several customers have sent in their own reviews
and pictures of their new toy that you might enjoy
reading. Larry T's can be found on Fountain Pen
Networks here http://tinyurl.com/c3h49,
while William A. finds it a perfect complement to his Moleskine journal
here http://tinyurl.com/cz3zq.

Stocking stuffers in the Palace -- Sanmenru pen knives

These small, high-quality pen knives arrived in the
same shipment from China as the Speeno pens, listed
above. All stainless steel, they're a perfect
accompaniment on the Speeno keychain, and will find
immediate use in opening all of your other
presents.
Both are small. The larger #A103 measures 2-3/8"
closed (including the keyring) and 4" with its blade
extended, while the even more diminutive SSA80
comes in at slightly over 1-7/8" closed and 3-1/8"
extended.

On the blog...Love letters and giant earthworms!

"On A patch of dairy country near Korumburra, a
delicate and unprecedented operation has been
taking place.

A group of threatened giant Gippsland earthworms,
living in the path of a planned road, is being moved.

It is the first time scientists have tried to move an
entire colony of the creatures, which can grow up to
1.5 metres long.

...and in our second story...."Love may be in the air
but it is no longer in the mail,
according to a new competition to revive the lost art
of love letter writing.

Run for the first time last year in the United States
when it attracted 5,000 entries, philanthropist Henri
Zimand's competition to find the best written love
letters has now opened to entrants from Britain as
well.

'In this age of one-line e-mails and abbreviated text
messages, the simple art of letter writing has all but
been forgotten,' he said. 'Writing a love letter is a
dying art and to me that is a real shame.'

The competition is dedicated to the memory of
Zimand's wife Anda who died from breast cancer in
2003 aged 49.
