His Nibs.com Update
Ouguwen #SH2
November 26, 2005

As I know everyone is still digesting turkey, or
standing overnight in line for Best
Buy to open, I'll make this a short update
this week.

This week's addition to the new Chinese pen
brands I've been introducing is the Ouguwen
#SN2. It's a pen with a few surprises hidden
under its rather sedate exterior (if you consider
alligators and crocodiles sedate)...but I'll leave you
to discover its secrets on the website....

The Speeno (http://www.hisnibs.com/speeno.htm [1]) pens are enroute,
but haven't yet arrived (a slow
boat from China?). I'll email everyone on the
waiting list as soon as they arrive!

Next week I hope to have a special stocking
stuffer section on the website, but I'll just mention
this week that I'm almost sold out of the YAFA car
and pen sets, which include classic Thunderbirds,
Corvettes, Mustangs and Woody Wagons. I won't be
able to get more prior to the holidays, so what I
have now will be it.

On the blog, while the rest of use have been
recovering on our Barcoloungers from too much
stuffing and cranberry sauce, Emmanuel Coindre just
finished rowing -- yes rowing --
across the Pacific! Best of all, he christened his boat
the Lady Inky. It almost inspires me
to move from my chair.

Speaking of the joys of tryptophan, my brother Bruce
resurrected one of his past cartoons for the occasion.

Ouguwen #SH2

The first thing I thought when I saw this slim, mid-
sized pen (5-3/8" capped, 5-7/8" posted) was that
I'd only be able to use it while wearing a certain polo
shirt, for the clip and cap band are adorned with an
open-mouthed crocodile. Fortunately, these are left-
facing , unlike the more famous logo, so no legal
complications ensue and I can wear anything I like.

The pen is a sleek, black lacquer over brass model,
and comfortably fits any hand. Despite its reptilian
aggressiveness, from a distance it's actually a rather
demure design.

It's when the cap is removed that things get a little
wild!

On the blog...Row, row, row your boat

"A man rowed -- yes, rowed! -- across the Pacific
Ocean.

HIS face was tanned a reddish brown, and his eyes
rimmed raccoon-style by white circles left by the
shades that had sheltered them from a sun shining
mercilessly over an open sea. His hands were terribly
calloused and he had lost 9kg. But Emmanuel
Coindre, rower extraordinaire, was in high spirits.

For over 129 days, he pitted his puny human
strength against the might of the Pacific Ocean in a
bid to complete a solo ocean crossing in record time,
and he had accomplished his mission -- albeit not as
he had originally planned. Coindre, 32, who cites his
profession as ?adventurer?, had set off from the port
of Choshi in Japan on June 24 in a boat christened
the Lady Inky."
