Platinum Short/Long Stainless - Mini Review

Here is another purchase from Stan. I seem to be growing my collection of Japanese pens. I think it must be the engineer in me, as most of these pens are well made and seem to have great precision and detail about them. I had actually requested another pen but it was snatched up before I sent Stan an email. I saw this other pen and requested it. Luckily I was the first to ask for it. Smiling Stan figured I made out better as well and that this was a better pen than my first choice.

The one thing you notice about these short/long pens is that when capped the bottom of the pen looks, well, short. Smiling

Actually, this pen isn't that much shorter than a normal pen when capped. It's close to 5" and is only around a 1/4" shorter than my Murex Sr. Where the Murex MYU-701 is around 4 1/2" capped. However, it is a little longer when posted as well. It's around 6" long whereas the 701 is 5 1/2". It's actually longer than the Murex Sr. when posted.

This seems to be a very well made pen. The black lines are actually recessed into the steel and which I think would prevent the black from being scratched, etc. I believe this is how the black striped Murex is done. This pen has an 18k white gold nib and is marked 18k WG on the nib. My once concerned was that there wasn't a converter available for this pen, but that's okay as Platinum Blue-Black is one of my favorite inks. Smiling

Of course this pen is mint and doesn't appear to have ever been used. I've got to quit buying pens like this as I can't bring myself to ink them up. Eye-wink
