What I call "Asian" Sailor Pens

Mark,

This is what I was talking about last night in the "ChatBox". Take a look at the web site & let me know what you think.

Go to Pen Gallery web site & then match their blue with the blue Sailor at the bottom of the page on Luxury Brands site.

Oh, yes. I see what you are talking about now. I was looking on the Sailor page itself and not the "What's new" page.

Interesting. I wonder if they will be showing them at the Atlanta pen show. Probably will.

Asian Sailor 1911 Pens

I like the looks of the Asian version, the rounded cap end looks so much cleaner. Like a German school pen, rounded like a Montblanc or a Sheaffer Touchdown. But I hear they are smaller. Is the diameter smaller or the length? PenGallery specs are a little weird, measuring circumference, and then I can't find lengths for the Luxury Brands 1911 in their site. Anyone know out there, I bought one with the music nib but haven't seen it yet. Hope it's kinda fat! --Nemo

"Asian" Sailor

It appears I might have coined a phrase, "Asian" Sailor.
If you're hoping the pen will be fat, you are going to be disappointed! I have noticed on one of the adverisements they say it is a smaller pen, but not much! In my opinion it is much smaller, but that's me!

However my friend do not let that dismay you. You are simply going to love the pen. Don't ask me why, but it feels very good in the hand. Once you lay down a line with that wonderful nib, you won't remember what size it is.

To be honest, when I purchased mine from Lai at the Pen gallery,(I hope you bought yours there) I was like you. I couldn't tell the size by the pictures. If I had known it was a smaller pen I probably wouldn't have purchased it. Because once I did find out they are smaller I purchased an American version from "Chuck" at Swisher's", and there was no longer any question to me about the sizes. As I said, the pen is a great writer and to me feels very good in the hand.

All that does is give you the opportunity to buy the larger Sailor now!

Good Luck,

Tommy Fountain

PS: When I first received the pen the nib was a bit scratchy. I believe you guy's in the pen community refer to that as "Toothy". I was on the verge of sending it to Richard Binder. In fact I even sent him as e-mail about the scratchiness. Had he not had (2) two of my pens already I would have sent it. Instead I started using it more because even with that toothy nib it was still a great writer. Then as if the pen god's shined down on me, or came up, wherever they are, it started writing smoother & smoother. I'll not be sending it now.
The only other time I have had a nib start writing better after use, is my Pelikan M800.

So this morning I check my ma

So this morning I check my mail and there is a Zoss message from Richard at Penspiration regarding these same "medium" 1911s! What a good price, too. Already bought one from Lai at PenGallery in the burgundy color Penspiration is not advertising. They appear to be the "Asian Sailors."

People are mixed in their opinions about that Music nib. I guess it's a real personal thing and I certainly can't wait to get it in my hand, I'll tell you what! --Doug

Asin Sailor = "Medium"

Saw somewhere that it was called...

1911M and Profit next to it.

So what's the lowest list price you've seen on these? I saw $120 on Pentrace green board listing and $119 at Penspiration.

Sailor 1911 with 14k nib

mark,

If you can wait a little while I'm checking to see if I can get you the price I paid for mine,($109). You can probably do as well or better.. but just in case let me know! That's the best price I've seen.

I'll probably look at the Atlanta show.

Thanks for the info.

Although if I get the Bexley LE Show Pen, I might be out of funds for a while. Smiling
