Okay, I think I have things setup. Since this is the first time around we'll see how things go.
I created this site in the hopes that it would be benificial to the pen community and be a place where members could come and enjoy themselves and read interesting information about their hobby. The software I use to run this site has some nice features and one of those features allows users to vote on new content and forum posts.
This is how it works. You click on Create Content on the menu to the right. Then select Forum Topic or Story. Enter your story or forum topic information and submit it. You can enter pen reviews with pictures, articles about your favorite pens, your favorite inks, reviews about testing you've done with inks, just about anythings game.
Now, here is where it gets interesting. After you create your Story or Forum Topic it will be automatically added to the submission queue. You can click on submission queue on the right to see any new stories or forum topics. As long as it's not a Story you created you will be able to vote on that item. Basically it's either a Yes or No type vote. If an entry get's 5 positive votes it is automatically moved to the front page.
Here's the cool thing. The items that people like rise to the top and it's all controlled by the user community.
Okay, for some of the rules:
Create as many topics or stories as you like.
Don't get your friends to come to the site and vote for your submission just because you want it to goto the front page and win a pen.
Read other people's posts by by visiting the submission queue and vote how you feel about the article and whether the community as a whole would benefit from it.
The contributer that has the most items promoted to the front page from now until May 31, 2005 (to give everyone a chance to submit items) will win the pen.
We'll see how this goes and I'll probably do something similar after this one.
Let's come together and make this a great site for everyone.
Let me know if you have any questions or comments about this. Feel free to send me an email: mark@penpassion.com [1]

- Mark
