Playing around with the lampshade.

I bought a couple of lampshades today and took some shots of a new Lamy 2000 ballpoint I purchased recently. I'll take a picture of the lampshade setup and post it. I'll take some shots without the lampshade for comparison.

nice pictures..

I'd be interested in seeing your setup.. is this the actual color of the pen? i've never seen it before, so I can't be sure. it looks a little on the red side which is pretty common for incandescant lighting, maybe you can adjust the white balance on the camera? all in all, nice pictures!

My new and improved setup...

Actually, I just got a new foam top. Works better though.

You're probably right. It's probably more like this...

It's a brushed stainless stell. Here is probably a closer color.

And here's a picture without the lampshade.

Here's the back.

First picture.

Here's the set, ballpoint and fountain pens.

Nice pic!

So what light source do you use with lampshade? natural lighting or camera flash light? I usually just use natural lighting and no lampshade (I guess that's why there are glares). TIA

Kev

Currently I just use existing light and...

a gooseneck lamp with a 40 or 60 watt bulb in it. But for the colors to come out right I have to adjust for that. I use Photoshop Elements or the camera has a setting. The lampshade or some kinda lightbox is the key.

This is what I used for several of the new shots:

I shot this in my office under floresent lights with a 60 watt in the lamp shined from the front left.

Fun stuff and easy to do.

Only one light source?? Wow!

Only one light source?? Wow! --Doug

Well, I don't do it that way anymore. :)

Now I have 3 light sources.

Back then I probably used ambient light and highlighted with the gooseneck lamp.

I sold the lamy 2k's when I worked for the colorado pen co. in orlando. Great pieces, and the color is spot on right. (in the shade pics). They look great. How do you like the set? whats the nib?

You know I'm not even sure...

I've never used the fountain. Just bought it because I got a deal on it from PenCity. I think it's a medium or so. I like the ballpoint as did a guy here at my office. He liked the finish, but said he prefer's a twist mechanism. Also showed him a Sensa platinum plated pen. He like the look but didn't care for the squishy grip.

I also have the regular Lamy 2000 and like it but don't use it much. I probably should ink it up. I haven't seen the ballpoint in the blackwood but would probably like that one as well. Would like to see it in a fountain, but I guess they'd have to do something about the piston filler and wood material?

Thanks for joining the site Dennis,
